LAWN GRUBS
Chances are you’ve heard about lawn grubs… But, do you know how to tell if you have them
It is not uncommon to get lawn grubs in South East Queensland. And, coming into these warmer months will start to see increased activity.
What are some signs of lawn grubs?
- Patchy lawn with brown/bare patches
- Typically affects couch more than Sir Walter
(Newly established Sir Walter most at risk – Less than a year old) - Inspect individual leaf blades – You will see holes or part of the leaf missing with bite marks.
If it is a bad lawn grub infestation there will be little to no leaf to be seen - If you pour a bucket of soapy water over lawn they may appear for you to visualise
- Use a garden hose and flood an area close to a brown patch but with green leaves. They will then come crawling out to leafs edge
- Part the grass blades and inspect for grub droppings (small green pellets)
- White egg sacks on your house
- White moths flying around grass at dusk
- Increased bird activity (looking for a meal) in your lawn
