Yes, you certainly can come and pick up your turf!

You can come and pick it up yourself fresh from the farm for free.

We have our own forklift (posi-track) that is attached to our delivery truck so when we deliver it to your door in pallets, we can place the turf around the laying area if there is access for your convenience. This service can be arranged Monday through to Friday. We have also invested in some special designed steel pallets, so that when we deliver the turf and place it around the area, the turf can be unloaded from the pallet still stacked neatly. This efficient system means that there is no hand-unloading and no pallets to return or collect afterwards!

Our laying service includes:

• Smoothing out the surface;
• Laying the turf;
• Rolling the turf with our steel roller for a smooth finish; and
• The first water.

We can lay your turf no matter what the size of the area is; whether it is a residential block, commercial project or sports oval.

The way turf is installed can have an effect on the presentation and look of the site. Our installation team will ensure that the turf is installed correctly and the job is completed to your satisfaction. Site preparation is very important, so our team will advise.

Turf is laid in a brick like style so the strips are staggered. The newly laid turf is then lightly rolled on conclusion to eliminate air pockets and maximise root/soil contact. This does not level the area though so if you have good site preparation you will have a good finish.

No. Instructions on where to place turf can be given to our sales team upon ordering.

It’s important that clear instructions about where turf is to be placed is given, particularly for larger orders. Turf can become quite heavy; 50 m² (75 slabs) weighs about one tonne. Our forklift will place turf where you want it. If you are not there and your instructions are not clear, it could be a lot of work moving it.

Buffalo turf is best for areas of shade that receive less than six (6) hours of sunlight per day.

Although there is yet to be a lawn that will grow in shade completely, DNA Certified Sir Walter Soft Leaf Buffalo [insert link to DNA Certified Sir Walter page] turf adapts to shady areas better than any other turf. In newly planted gardens you may initially have plenty of sun, but as your garden develops more shade is expected.

Whilst DNA Certified Sir Walter can produce seed heads when stressed, the seed is not viable.  The Sir Walter seed produced is male, sterile and not economically viable to be grown from. Most of your drought-tolerant varieties cannot be grown from seed.

We recommend spraying with a total weed killer like Roundup, waiting seven (7) days before rotary hoeing, and then spreading topsoil. Heavily vegetated surfaces may require two (2) applications seven (7) days apart prior to rotary hoeing. Some surfaces may not require rotary hoeing prior to soil application. We cut the turf the morning of the scheduled delivery so it is as fresh as possible for our customers. There is a high risk of pallet burn, causing the turf to die, if it is left longer than 12 hours on the pallet. The turf is to be laid within 12 hours of delivery, especially in warm weather. Although it will take longer to establish, the ground does not get as cold in Central Queensland as it does in other parts of Australia. A benefit of laying turf in winter is that it does not require as much water if laid during the cooler seasons.
